Running down the Rose Road (and swimming, and cycling!)

Last year a team from Copyrite entered the Rose Road mini triathlon, raising money for The Rose Road Association which provides services for disabled children across Hampshire and surrounding areas.
We enjoyed it so much we did it again this year! The Rose Road mini triathlon was held on the 14th September, and our team consisted of Ava Lambert, Francesca (Frankie) Girardelli, James Frampton, and. . . . (drum roll please). . . .Copyrite Director Ian Stewart!
Yes we managed to persuade The Boss to join the team this year :-)

Copyrite's intrepid team finished in a not too shabby 9th place out of 13, and have so far raised £230 for the charity.

Press Release - Dyer & Butler

Managed Print Service at Dyer & Butler combines hardware and software to reduce costs and waste yet increases functionality, reliability and security.

Founded in 1979, Dyer and Butler is a regional civil engineering and building contractor that undertakes a wide range of often complex projects throughout England and Wales.
Quality, the environment, and sustainability are strategic issues so unreliable and expensive multi-function devices had to be replaced.

The service support on their MFDs needed to be improved as operational issues such as late toner replacements adversely affected productivity. A hardware supplier with strong software and IT expertise was required to help with their scanning and print management software. A proven track record of supporting these systems was essential.

Ian Stewart, Director of Copyrite explained "The MFDs were replaced; 38 faster and more reliable Ricoh devices were installed across the 17 sites. A single pass document feeder now enables scanning both sides concurrently, increasing productivity on every device. Copyrite implemented a Managed Service to cut print costs while giving visibility and control of all printing and importantly, to improve productivity and reduce the environmental footprint."

To find out in detail how Managed Print Services, PaperCut Print Management, and M3i (scanning interface) in a multi-faceted approach combining software and hardware enabled Dyer & Butler to stand by their principles of quality, sustainability and support for the environment, you can read the full press release on our website

Press Release - Paris Smith Solutions

Embedded Cost Recovery and Scanning solutions at Paris Smith increases productivity.

The introduction of PaperCut Print Management reduces waste and print cost.

Paris Smith LLP is one of the largest independent firms of solicitors in Central Southern England, based in landmark offices in Southampton. Its clear vision of the future has forced the firm to adapt to the ever increasing demands and pressures on businesses and individuals.

Ian Stewart, Copyrite Director said "During a review of all multi-function devices, it became apparent that the external hardware cost recovery boxes and scanning stations could not achieve the productivity levels required and were expensive to support. Environmental issues are a key concern of Paris Smith so improvements in waste reduction would be a clear benefit of replacing these solutions"

Equitrac has been replaced with embedded PaperCut for copy and print control to support Cost Recovery while embedded m3i (a scanning interface)is used instead of both eCopy and Equitrac to enable scanning to email and scanning to file. Integration with the corporate accounts system was critical.

PaperCut Print Management

The software aims to:
  • Reduce the amount of waste
  • Understand how much is spent on print
  • Understand existing print behaviour
  • Establish a set of rules to reduce print costs (e.g. email to Black and White printing)
  • Implement 'Find Me' for greater security of confidential information and reduce waste of uncollected jobs
  • Enable recharging for copies and print
PaperCut's core purpose is to track all printing in a network environment. It keeps detailed print logs for all users printing activity which helps to understand printing at all levels of the business, such as by user, printer, group, department, office or shared account. PaperCut ChargeBack is a key feature for Paris Smith as both printing and copying costs can be recharged to client accounts.

Mike Baynham's Big Adventure for the MS Society

Mike at work driving the minibus for MS
Copyrite's Mike Baynham will be 70 Years Young in September and will be retiring from the company.

To Celebrate both events Mike has embarked on a major challenge this summer to walk, ON HIS OWN, the whole of the 630 mile (or 1014km) South West Coast Path which reaches from Minehead in Somerset, to Poole in Dorset, taking in some of the south west's most amazing scenery on the way.
He wants to use this opportunity to raise money for a good cause and so has chosen Copyrite's 2014 adopted charity, The Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition which affects around 100,000 people in the UK, including Mike's mother Nora, who lived with MS for 33 years. Mike helps by driving a minibus for the local division of the MS society in West Parley, but he would also like to raise as much money as possible from donations, and so he has set up a page on Virgin Moneygiving. If you would like to help Mike, all donations will be gratefully recieved.

All being well Mike aims to complete this challenge by the end of August. We will be providing updates on his progress and wish him every success in this admirable adventure and for his future as a Retiree.

Big Green and Little Green

Another interesting Green Breakfast took place this morning in partnership with Blake Lapthorn and Business South. After a networking breakfast we listened to an informative presentation from Helen Wray - Head of Safety, Environment and ECM at Southampton Airport. She summarised all green initiatives they have implemented at the airport and also what they are planning for the future. Our favourite part was the Noise reduction project and how they are combating it.

This was followed by a presentation by James Deacon - Head of Corporate Responsibility at Ricoh UK, who covered Ricoh as a Green Manufacturer, its role in a Circular economy and also some potentially unpopular new initiatives concerning their car fleet optimisation with goals to "green up" and reduce travel. A lively discussion followed with more networking after.

We are looking forward to the next Green Breakfast on Tuesday 20th May. The topic is Big Green and Little Green, with Charles Burt from Olive Consultancy focusing on bigger picture facing us today and Dr Andy Stanford-Clark from IBM who has green passions on a more micro-scale, sharing his hobbies of home automation and for energy saving at home.

Not to be missed!

Press Release - Toner Recycling

Copyrite helps to reduce the environmental impact of leading housing association Radian by ensuring toner cartridges never reach landfill sites.

Only 15% pf the 65 million printer ink and toner cartridges used in the UK are recycled. The majority end up in landfill where it can take more than a thousand years for them to break down.

Although some ink and toner cartridges can be refilled, once toner bottles are empty, they cannot be refilled or reused. Consequently, many third party refillers do not collect them, resulting in a large proportion ending up in landfill sites.

The Copyrite Toner Recycling Service.

Radian's objective is for residents and stakeholders to enjoy a better quality of life, now and in the future which means not using up resources faster than the planet can replenish them. Looking at new ways to save energy, reduce waste and conserve water contributes to greener homes and cleaner environments.

As one of the many Ricoh initiatives implemented by Copyrite, the recycling of ink and toner cartridges is one of the most significant, ensuring they are re-used and dont end up in landfill.
